Home STARS Control Line Field Report

STARS Control Line Field Report

It was an overcast, chilly 38 degrees but a large crew showed up this morning to help with the STARS (Syracuse Thunderbirds Aero Radio Society) field cleanup. Given the size of the cleanup crew, the scheduled tasks were completed in short order and the field was declared open for the 2014 flying season! Most everyone retreated to the relative warmth of the field hut while a couple intrepid souls brought out their heli’s to fly. The mild breeze also made it good for kite flying.

With the assistance of a couple fellow club members, I proceeded to lay out the location of the ‘new’ control line circle. There is still some standing water on the field, so actual flying will need to wait for the puddles to dry and the grass to be mowed, but the center of the 60′ flying circle has been marked and the field has been rolled! Now if I can just get that Mustang completed, I’ll be able to actually fly something at the new field.

Thank You very much to all the officers and members of the STARS for all their support with this new Control Line field!!
