Home Building a Cessna Bird-Dog

Building a Cessna Bird-Dog. Guillow's Flying Models Facebook Group Contest Entry.

The ‘Guillow’s Flying Models’ Facebook Group ran a ‘Build & Fly’ contest over the past several months. The group voted to build the Guillow’s Cessna Bird-Dog (Kit #902) given that it is considered to be an entry level free flight model and one that is considered to be easy to fly. The contest rules were simple: build and then fly the model for at least 20 seconds and submit a flight video by October 14, 2023. While I did not vote for the Bird-Dog, I did have one in my build inventory so I entered the contest.

Unfortunately for me, I did not complete my build in time to fly the plane and submit a flight video by the cut-off date. But I did complete the build and when there is some nice weather, I will attempt to get a 20 second flight out of the model.

I have prepared the following brief video which shows some of the building process including the finished model. Also included are some of my thoughts related to this build. I hope you enjoy the video:

Stay tuned for a future video of my flight attempts of the Bird-Dog!
