Home Albuquerque Airshow

Albuquerque Airshow. FlyBoyz Guest Post.

This past weekend, Kirtland Air Force Base, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, hosted an airshow which was to feature the Air Force Thunderbirds. However, due to the loss earlier in the week of one of the Thunderbirds planes, their performance was cancelled. (Likewise, the loss, also last week, of one of the Navy’s Blue Angles has resulted in them cancelling their appearance at the Syracuse, NY airshow this coming weekend.) Nonetheless, the airshow went on. My brother, FlyBoy, Shane O’Neill, attended the show with 3 of his kids and sent the photos and video featured in this post. Thanks for the visuals, Shane!

I’ve deliberately not labeled each of the planes depicted here so that you can see how good your plane identification skills are. However, if you are stumped as to what any particular plane is, you can get a hint by hovering over the photo and looking at the url/file name displayed in your browser. Enjoy the photos and video – the B-17 is by far and away my favorite plane pictured here!

The photos above are from when we went on Sunday but a customer of mine told me today that when they went on Saturday a B-2 bomber did 3 fly by’s before it continued on over the mountains!

That was the special appearance that made the news a day before the show to make up for the loss of the Thunder Birds performance.
