Brodak – Part 4. Tower One.

This is the fourth in a series of FlyBoyz posts relating what I saw and did at the 23rd. Annual Brodak Fly-In in mid-June.

Attached to the Brodak Manufacturing Facility in Carmichael, Pennsylvania is a new addition to the building which was recently added and that is still under interior construction. It is to be the future home of a control line model airplane museum to be called ‘Tower One‘ and is the special vision of John Brodak. John wants to present a venue that will document the history of control line model airplanes to include planes, engines, literature, and accessories. While the museum is modest in size, it will be able to present that special vision that John has.

I managed to get a special ‘guided tour’ of the still under construction museum. I saw many interior displays currently under construction which are primarily being assembled by volunteers. A majority of the items to be displayed in the museum have been donated and there were many piles of donated plane kits, engines, and literature waiting to be added to the displays once they are completed. Presented below is a photo gallery of some of the different types of model aviation displays you will find in the museum once it is completed.

There are some questions regarding the future state of the museum and the date that it might be finished and opened to the public. I truly hope that its fate is decided sooner than later as what I saw inside the partially completed museum is exciting and I can only image how exciting it will be to visit once it is fully completed and open. To have a venue of this nature available to the control line community will be a true testament to John Brodak’s vision.

Yet another word about photo quality: Many of the photos in this gallery are of fairly poor quality and for that I again apologize. There were sections of the museum with either low lighting or no lighting at all making for poor photo conditions. Additionally, I was using my new digital video camcorder for the first time for still photography. Based on that experience, I’ve learned that my iPhone takes better photos…at least until I learn all the secrets of how to use the new camcorder! So to quote what I said in an earlier post ‘Please just remember, I’m not a professional videographer so please be gentle with any comments towards me!’ In any event, you will hopefully get a good idea of what the museum will look like based on the photos presented here.
